Senator Tim Bivins of Dixon hit the ground running in the Capital City March 11, with a clear vision about the most important issue facing state government today - fixing Illinois’ budget problems.

“We have to get serious about the budget,” said Senator Bivins. “We have a huge deficit to plug and how we’re going to do that is a huge concern.”

The 45th District Senator says with the State of Illinois nearly $2 billion behind in paying bills and state debt on the rise, the failed policy of “borrow and spend” from the past six years must end.

“We don’t have a money problem, we have a spending problem,” said Senator Bivins. “You can’t keep adding new programs that you can’t afford, to a budget with a deficit. That policy is not based on sound business principles or sound budgetary principles.”
