Senator Tim Bivins (at right, in forefront) studies information relating to the future of Illinois passenger rail systems during a meeting April 23 with Governor Pat Quinn and other legislators in the Governor’s office.

Senator Bivins was invited to join the Illinois Passenger Rail Caucus, a bipartisan group of legislators from Chicago, the suburbs and downstate who support projects that will improve passenger rail service for Illinois citizens.

A multi-phase proposal to link the entire state by 2016 includes an Amtrak line expansion west from Chicago to the Quad Cities region, with stops in Rockford, Freeport, Galena and Dubuque, Iowa.
