Creating a system like AMBER Alert to more quickly find missing persons with dementia is the aim of a new law cosponsored by Senator Tim Bivins.

Senate Bill 27 creates the Endangered Missing Person Advisory to provide a regional system for the rapid dissemination of information about a missing person who is believed to be a “high-risk missing person,” which now includes a person with dementia-like symptoms.

“Having served more than 32 years in law enforcement, I encountered my share of missing persons, whether they were lost or the victim of crime. Key to finding the person is starting your search as quickly as possible and in as wide a range as possible,” Senator Bivins said. “Systems like AMBER Alert and now this Endangered Missing Person Advisory can make all the difference.”
