Facing a deadline to approve Senate bills, Senate lawmakers considered more than 150 pieces of legislation during the week of April 14-18, according to Senator Tim Bivins.

Senate Republican lawmakers also spoke out against the Blagojevich Administration’s “War on Agriculture.” At an April 15 Capitol press conference, Senator Bivins and several other Republican senators urged the Governor to release approximately $40 million in previously appropriated funds for agriculture. The lawmakers noted that the one-sided nature of the cuts that is particularly concerning, reinforcing that it is irresponsible to deny much needed funding for the state’s core industry, while unilaterally launching major expansions in other areas.
