The Governor raised eyebrows during the week when he released hundreds of million dollars for school construction and renovation less than two weeks before the November 2 election, according to Senator Tim Bivins .

Governor Pat Quinn also continues to take heat for a prisoner early-release program he claims to have shut down, even as convicted felons are being released on a nearly daily basis.

On November 20, Governor Quinn announced that 18 Illinois school districts will benefit from more than $270 million to be used for new school construction, upgrades to existing facilities, additions and, in some cases, to help pay for flood and weather damage. The funding is part of the capital program approved by lawmakers in 2009 to create jobs, put people to work and help rebuild Illinois’ still-faltering economy.
