Senior citizens and persons with disabilities have until December 31 to apply for Illinois’ Circuit Breaker Program, which offers property tax breaks, prescription drug help and license plate discounts, according to Senator Tim Bivins.
The Circuit Breaker Program provides annual grants to reimburse eligible persons for some of the money they paid for property taxes, mobile home taxes, rent, or nursing home charges. It also offers $75 discounts on license plate renewal fees.
The pharmaceutical assistance – Illinois Cares Rx – can help pay for approved medications for a wide range of medical conditions, including Alzheimer’s, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart and blood pressure problems. If you have Medicare, Illinois Cares Rx will help pay the costs that Medicare does not. If you do not have Medicare, Illinois Cares Rx can still help with two levels of benefits: Illinois Cares Rx BASIC and Illinois Cares Rx PLUS." />Skip to Main Content
