The first in a series of public hearings about the state’s redistricting process began March 28, and lawmakers responded to an alarming letter from a top Caterpillar, Inc. executive to Governor Pat Quinn that was leaked to the public last weekend, kicking off a busy week at the Illinois Statehouse, according to Senator Tim Bivins.

Also during the week, the U.S. District Court on March 31 overturned McPier labor reforms advanced by the General Assembly last May, while Senate lawmakers approved measures to merge the state Comptroller’s and Treasurer’s office, and adopted a resolution calling for an outside review of Illinois’ workers’ compensation system.

On March 25, the Peoria Journal-Star reported that chairman and CEO of Caterpillar, Doug Oberhelman, sent the Governor a private letter mentioning that Caterpillar had been approached by other states eager to benefit from the jobs and economic boost a CAT relocation would offer." />
