State employees and retirees learned this week that they will be able to keep their current health insurance plans through Fiscal Year 2012, and a state commission began to review the implementation of the state’s federally-required health care exchange, according to Senator Tim Bivins.
In other news, Illinois was recently highlighted in a Forbes magazine article criticizing the Obama Administration’s efforts to block bipartisan Medicaid reforms.
On August 31, the state’s Chief Procurement Officer approved contract extensions for all current state group health insurance providers through June 30, 2012. The current contracts had been set to expire September 28.
CMS Group Insurance also announced that it will hold a Special Enrollment Period, from October 10, 2011, through October 28, 2011, with changes being effective December 1, 2011. This Special Enrollment Period will be offered to all members, but is limited to changing health insurance providers only." />Skip to Main Content
