Senator Tim Bivins says he is pleased that the Senate finally voted Aug. 12 to reject a salary increase for government officials.

House Joint Resolution 132 rejects the 2008 report of the Compensation Review Board, which would give members of the legislative and executive branch a pay raise.

“It is surprising that it took so long, but I am pleased we were finally able to vote on this issue. Illinois’ budget and our economy are in bad shape and many legislative issues remain unresolved, and this was the right thing to do,” Senator Bivins said.
